Slain Tejano music star's husband writes long-awaited book

SAN ANTONIO -Nearly 17 years following her murder at a Corpus Christi motel, Chris Perez said he has written To Selena, With Love to thank her legions of fans who worshipped the "Queen of Tejano Music" in life and death, and to explain why he remained intensely private for so lengthy.

"I felt like I had been living life with blinders on beats by dr dre," said Perez. "I was just focused on attempting to take the next step in my life and move ahead."

He said each their families helped with his healing process, plus the grateful response from her fans to his book.

"It's been crazy. They've been selling out beats headphones," Perez said.

Perez features a book signing at 6 p.m. Friday in the HEB in the 6800 block of S. Zarzamora. Published by Penguin, the book is available nationally and on Amazon.

He said fans have told him how grateful they are he finally wrote about their life together.

"I'm sorry I took so lengthy Dr Dre Beats," Perez said.

He said even Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla Dre Beats, authorized of the book.

"It was totally what lots of people wouldn't anticipate," Perez said. "He gave me? his full support."

Now as the 42-year-old father of two monster beats, Perez stated he can comprehend why Quintanilla was fiercely protective of his talented daughter.

"I understand much more where he was coming from," Perez said.

Saldivar is now serving a life sentence for Selena's murder.

He also said he has learned to embrace his past, as "the man who was married to Selena."

"Some people might appear at me as only that monster headphones," Perez said.

Besides now being an author, Perez said he continues to write and create music and carry out with his band the Chris Perez Project.
